Get out your guns, and get ready for the season with this fun time of fellowship. Last year we raised over $14,000 for the David Toms Foundation, The Methodist Children’s Home, the Allendale Friendship House, and other local missions. There are a wide range of sponsorship levels so that you and your company can help children in need in our local area. The First UMC/David Toms Sporting Clays Tournament is a great opportunity to get ready for hunting season and will be held at the Los Paloma Sporting Range & Event Center. Teams will consist of 5 shooters and the cost includes a great brunch! There will also be a silent auction at the tournament. Players will need to bring a 12 or 20 guage shotgun along with about 125 shells and eye/ear protection. Minors must be accompanied by a parent! The tournament will benefit various local charities as well as the David Toms Foundation. Registration begins at 7:30 AM the day of the tournament. The tournament begins at 8:30 AM and ends around 12:30 PM. We hope to see you there!

“I will bless you.”
During stewardship season, we at First United Methodist Church in Shreveport take the opportunity to reaffirm our vows of prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness. We invite you to take a few minutes to learn more about how you can be “blessed to be a blessing.”
We had a wonderful Celebration Sunday on October 12th. If you haven’t had the chance to make your pledge commitments for 2015, you encourage you to do so now. There are four different options for making your financial contribution. You can see those options here.
Where do our pledges go?
We humbly thank you for your continued support of First United Methodist Church Shreveport and the plethora of ministries we provide. We are so blessed that we get to serve you, our local community and the world. Without you, nothing we do would be possible.

- The first is a “Senior Brunch.” This brunch will be held from 9:30 – 10:45 am in the Multimedia room on the third floor of the Hunter Building. Your senior and your immediate family are invited to attend. Reservations are necessary and are due by Sunday, May 11th. - The second is Senior Recognition during the 11:00am Traditional Service, to be held in the Sanctuary. We invite each senior to wear their senior cap and gown, sit with the other graduates, have their names listed in the service bulletin, and receive recognition for this great accomplishment. Please be sure that we have your senior’s full name as you would like it listed!
Also, if you cannot attend either of these events and would still prefer that your graduate’s name be listed in the May 18th worship bulletin (traditional service), please let us know.
The annual First Shreveport EGG-stravaganza will take place on Saturday, April 12th, from 10am to noon. This year, we have a new events and a new location: Bain Hall and our brand-new North Parking Plaza. In addition to the Easter Egg Hunt, we’ll have inflatables, games, photos, Easter activities, and lots and lots of FUN! Open to kids of all ages, this one is sure to be fun for the entire family! Free to the general public.
It’s spring…that time of year when according to Mark Twain, a man’s thoughts turn to spoiling a good walk with a game of golf. No matter if you’re a scratch golfer, an aspiring pro, or someone with a handicap so large it could qualify for ObamaCare on it’s own, it’s time to put your money where your mouth is and play the First Methodist/Hal Sutton Charity Golf Tournament. Once again, all proceeds go to children’s charities, such as the Sutton Children’s Hospital and the Methodist Children’s Home. Held at the beautiful Stonebridge Golf Club, North of Bossier, you’ll compete for a variety of prizes, including a 2014 Chevy Camero!
If you love golf, you owe it to yourself to spend a day playing, enjoying good food, good fellowship, and the great outdoors. Don’t wait…entries are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Rub elbows with one of Shreveport’s preeminent golfers, Hal Sutton, raise money for a good cause, and have fun doing it.
