Blessed to be a Blessing

“I will bless you.”
During stewardship season, we at First United Methodist Church in Shreveport take the opportunity to reaffirm our vows of prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness. We invite you to take a few minutes to learn more about how you can be “blessed to be a blessing.”


We had a wonderful Celebration Sunday on October 12th. If you haven’t had the chance to make your pledge commitments for 2015, you encourage you to do so now. There are four different options for making your financial contribution. You can see those options here.

PatDay-thumb“Blessed to be a Blessing” is this year’s stewardship campaign theme. It’s another way of saying that God has blessed each one of us with talents, gifts, and resources to be a blessing to others. Imagine for a moment that God has a storehouse of blessings in heaven that he wants to pour out on his world. We are his receptacles, channels for the blessings that he wants to give to the world. Those blessings are not to be squandered or hoarded; they are to be shared. The more we use and share God’s blessings the more we are truly “Blessed to be a Blessing.” [more…]

The Holy One who declares this has control over all things—creation, time, energy, spirits—and is lacking nothing. This blessing is a current reality for all who follow Jesus. God has set us apart as wonderful and holy, he cares for and protect us, he provide us with good and desirable gifts.
